Every now and then I draw a connection between boudoir and maternity photography as artistic stages a woman can proudly take. Here is another beauty professional on such journey.
This hair professional and young expecting mom graced Zorz Studios blog several months ago, when she brought her husband to a boudoir session, and not just for support. Boudoir, dudeoir, coupleoir… As I learned, she was already pregnant at that time and surely enough, a request for maternity photography adventures followed.
She was fond of the idea of an outdoor shoot. We hoped for a nice weather, already granted to us a few weeks earlier with the temperature in the 70s but the spring has been crazy this year, dropping the degree to the low 30s on the day of the shoot (and jumping back to 70 the following day). We decided to brave the cold wind, taking the steps I learned for maternity photography in the cold mountains of Alaska. These photos may look warm, comfy, and sunny but believe me—goosebumps all over!
We took advantage of several landscape elements varying from lake to bamboo to some random graffiti house, all wrapped into a beautiful windy sunset. The sun became a warming (at least visually) element that shone in a stark contrast with a stormy maternity session done for this young woman’s co-worker. I seem to have become a talk in their nuBest beauty salon. 🙂
