One of most loyal, valued, and kindest clients of Zorz Studios continues her photo journey with her child photography.
Hmm, so I tricked you again. 🙂 Excuse my misleading cover photo similar to another post. I could not resist dramatizing one of the shots and then… how can I not feature it on the cover?! Forgive me and read on, the story is lovely in its own way.
Many know this special client by now. From her boudoir session to trash-the-dress to maternity to newborn/baptism, Shannon has been a treasured dream client. Time came to step into the wonders of child photography and bring her little son into the spotlight, especially having piled up more than one reason.
The first joyous reason, and possibly the main, was her husband’s finishing of the child’s room makeover—a year-long personal project of full rebuilding complete with the cathedral ceiling installation. They wanted to somehow reflect the project so I blended child photography with the theme of craftsmanship. And look at that hammer!
The second occasion was their son’s first birthday and it all coincided with the holiday season, presenting an opportunity to do their first family Christmas cards, hence the traditional merry portraiture! Of course, you can go a different route with those Christmas family portraits by taking it to the edge and being more startling about it but how can you not take these irresistible smiles outside to a nearby lake for some good ol’ charming pictures? The location did call for some fairytale mood and I took some creative liberty just for the sake of it.
We used fake snow. It did not work well indoors (would need more time for proper background setting up while testing the boy’s patience) but we took it with us outdoors and played with it, later enhancing in Photoshop (for the covert before-and-after, check out my Instagram story which expires around 6 PM tonight, @zorzstudios). And unfortunately, the little one did get cold or tired after hours of shooting so we had to quickly wrap up, not shooting as long as I could to develop that fairytale imagery. Still, better than nothing!
Wishing you all a happy holiday season filled with kindness and care, and an exciting and rewarding New Year 2017!
