For this beach maternity session, luck was on my side to pull something off when time was scarce, competing with another job for the clients.
The preamble for this session was touching—the guys had their vow renewal ceremony, formally officiated near the beach in the circle of friends and family; that’s one event to cover. Then followed a baby shower and the guests walked to South Fin Grill Restaurant to continue the celebration; that’s a second event. The artistic photo session was a delicate delicious icing on the cake but I had far less time for it than my standalone art sessions. It felt a little rushed and superficial to me since I know what my full-fledged effort is. We stuck to one location and I was giving quick directions, going over simple poses and ideas while dealing with lifeguards shooing us away. And yet, the results still excite me!
Sorry about the quick post; I am only including the artistic outtakes from this short beach maternity session; all ceremony and baby shower photos will be privately shared with the clients.
By the way, this beach maternity session location is quite personal to me because I visit it 4-5 times a week throughout the year. Some know that I run and swim in early mornings, combatting my immobile office hours to stay fit and training myself for winter swimming with my first Polar Bear Club’s New Year’s Day swim past January. The pier you see on the photos is one of the two physical boundaries of my 250-meter lap (I do over 1 km ) so I meet those rocks in the ocean quite often. It was unusual to see them in the bright daylight from a different angle, on a beach full of folks and lifeguards, ever so absent in the 5 AM winter darkness! 🙂
