Time travels continue for this couple with their retro trash-the-dress session shot at an auto body shop.
You may recognize these guys. They are one of the winners of EngagEd: Free Engagement Session contest and won not one but two photo adventures, first being Quantum Chemistry engagement session shot earlier this year. That’s when their time travels started and to touch upon this theme, I took them to an auto shop which has several retired antique cars. Their main prize would have been the wedding day coverage but alas, I was booked for another wedding on their day and we decided to do a fun trash-the-dress session (a.k.a. “day-after”) instead.
Trash-the-dress session in its full meaning is referred to as a high-impact, visually explosive, outrageous, even absurd photography session, conducted after the wedding with an emphasis on totaling the dress. This becomes a tribute to your dress, this is the way to remember it, not just by you, your skeptical teenage daughter, and your pet moths but by all of your envious girlfriends, the online community, and beyond. This is the opportunity for the creative, intrepid, salient, and adventurous souls to fulfill their daring dreams of being referred to as one-of-a-kind bride.
One of well-known Zorz Studios’ approaches to trash-the-dress session takes advantage of my specialty in underwater photography. However, in a broader sense, such sessions can be anything that removes the concerns of the wedding dress staying clean and whole for the reception, like producing this iconic image in the caves of Mexico. This is why they can be called “day-after” and it was as such for this couple. I could put the bride in dusty cars and lay her on the ground.
We concluded this trash-the-dress session by the water and got Elman demonstrate some of his acrobatic tricks.
P.S. Take a look at the cool and unprecedented engagement session for another winner of this year’s contest!
