Even a major TV network’s filming could not get in the way of this sexy engagement session.
This engagement session had quite a start! In my discussion with the couple, we decided to shoot against some run-down background and I had one in mind which I often visited with my daughter and thought that I should put it to business use as well. The location is on Staten Island, Fort Wadsworth, and is one of the oldest military installations in the nation. Troubles started soon.
First, on my way to the fort my car was almost hit by another making an unexpected u-turn from the curb. I found myself in the counterflow lane (empty at the moment) to avoid the collision. Then, turned out that all client’s nice shoes were accidentally left at her home. I found a local private supply to tap into… And then came The Bummer. The cool location I eyed for the couple got fenced off for a TV show filming. They even planted the palm trees for their adventurous setup (see below). That had to be taken as a strong signal and although the guys came from Hoboken, they loved the area and agreed to come back a few days later when the filming is done.
We started the rescheduled engagement session around 6 AM in the morning and I took them to the hidden places where we were still caught by a park ranger. It was difficult to conceal my multiple off-camera flash setup… There is a heavy law enforcement presence due to the historical and military nature of the park (it is home to the US Army Reserve Center). We were well into the shoot and she graciously let us finish! Few more locations, including a gem I didn’t know about—this concrete hole originally serving some military/strategic purpose—and basta per le avventure!
