Here is to a beauty professional and industry expert entrusting her fine art quest to Zorz Studios, from boudoir to bridal to maternity session!
This is a type of a relationship that warms any photographer’s heart the most. You start with one session, feel the love for your work, then another follows, and another… Shannon is a makeup artist who was referred to me by a mutual friend, also a MUA. At that time she came with her friend for a double boudoir session (you can see them among others in a promo video), then hired me for her poetic yet striking trash-the-dress session in a vineyard/horse farm, and now, in the happiest turn of events, comes her maternity session.
Well suited for the Earth Day, I went on a nice train trip to her town in Long Island. You can imagine what I felt when seeing two gorgeous books by Zorz Studios, featuring her previous sessions, honorably displayed in the house!
The maternity session started. I mostly shot indoors, leaving the outdoor segment for last before the forecasted rain. In the middle of the shoot I noticed how prematurely and dark the sky went, appearing ready to plunge the water down. We hastily jumped out and drove to the river bank, just in time before the storm, and quite lucked out with the dramatic ambiance, as you can see. I could not stop relating to another maternity session in Greece, taken place just a few weeks prior to this one, when the rain remained a ubiquitous threat (and fact) throughout the entire all-day session, producing several images with a similar feel.
We managed, the rain came rushing down soon but we were back indoors already, finishing our session.
Despite the epic feel of the outdoors, my favorite moment was hearing Shannon read the bedtime stories book and imagining the tiny adventurer listening.
