Some photographers are blessed with model-looking children, making it twice as easy to shoot their family portraits!
The first easy part comes from the parent photographer, as Alexandra of Miami-based Blue Bird Photo Art is. I have met her online almost a decade ago when starting to branch out my photography. There was a hugely popular at the time photography community Fotki competing with Flickr (remember, no ubiquitous Facebook or Instagram yet). This community has a special place in my heart, deserving a separate long story. Suffice to say, I learned and built a strong foundation there, leading to real-life connections and projects. Alexandra was one of the active photographers and with the advent of Facebook, we stayed in touch virtually until last month, when I announced about my April travels, including a visit to Miami to shoot an uber-fun destination wedding.
She hired me to photograph her own family, giving us a very welcomed opportunity to finally meet in person. I had a full day between the said wedding and my early morning flight back to NYC, so I spent it meeting my other clients, visiting a few cultural spots, and doing a little Miami bike tour to Alexandra’s location.
Being a family portraits photographer herself, she must have been preconditioning her children to some extent. They did an outstanding job posing and smiling, especially the younger girl Eva, who hardly stopped blinding me with her freckles and a genuine smile.
As for the second part of easy family portraits, you can see it on their faces without me explaining. But of course, what would they do without pretty-looking parents? 😛
