Some couples seek nothing in their destination wedding but crazy fun, caring little about glamour or scale. They put together a gang they can keep a headcount of on one or two hands, and go wild like because no one is recognizing them.
Meet Olga and Paul, again! Remember them flying a submissive dog? That was an engagement session but they seemed to not have had enough of crazy me and went ahead with hiring me for their destination wedding in Miami Beach, FL. Of note, they are fun party photographers of Verita Vision Photography, so don’t be surprised to see some DIY action.
I flew in on the day of the wedding from Corfu, Greece, where I did an unforgettable maternity photo shoot. What can I say? Working with this gang felt like a funny fun funnying funound, starting from the airport where the guys picked me up. With only six of them including the couple, and a set of parents later in the evening, things went nuts. Coconuts, that is. You better see this then listen to me.
This wild destination wedding story had a touching civil continuation. Secretly from the couple, the bride’s mom had been in parallel contact with me, making arrangements for a second, surprise wedding celebration back in Brooklyn about a week later. Hence the surprise on the couple’s faces when seeing me yet again! Mom let her daughter have the wedding her way but took good care of all local caring friends, among which I happily found two other couples whose wedding I had photographed, Lana and Steve’s and Talina and Gleb’s (who is also a photographer!)
And in conclusion of the second celebration, bride’s father received his well-deserved attention: it was his birthday and the “official” occasion for the couple to be called into a restaurant. May this family’s lives be filled with such pleasant surprises, love, and wild things!
P.S. This did not end my job in Miami Beach, as I photographed a striking family of… yet another photographer the following day before flying back to NYC. Check back soon for the story.
