As I was once pulled by my models into wedding photography, later brides introduced me to a gentle world of maternity and baby photography.
Meet 6-month-old Isabelle, a cute bundle from one of studio’s epic brides whose trash-the-dress session I photographed in an abandoned asylum along with their pitbull (hence the quirky title). An image from that trash-the-dress session made it with honors to the walls of my Manhattan studio and is seen on the left.
Needless to say, I was only happy to hear that the couple was expecting a baby and giving me another cherished opportunity to meet and be of service. We did the session at their home where I arrived with the equipment.
Alas, reportedly very smiling and outgoing in general, the little girl had second thoughts about a stranger hiding behind a massive camera. Despite my going out of my way with silly faces, moves, and sounds, I was still receiving lots of suspicious looks and even a few cries… However, my soft persistence, patience, and a few tricks stole the needed moments for a baby photography and got the job done!
Then came a few words of encouragement for me to go on:
LOVEEEEEE all the pictures. It was so hard to pick out the favorites… Thank you so much for taking the time and putting love into your work!!! You’re capturing the most important memories in our lives and it means the world to have someone [like you].
