This unique engagement session is indeed atypical, as I always hope to get. For starters, I took my couple to an abandoned psychiatric complex some 60 miles away from NYC.
The session took place at the end of my four-day photography trip to upstate New York that started with camping in the Catskills for my car’s photo shoot, continued to the Lake Tiorati where I shot the naked-owners-of-a-flying-dog engagement session, and spent another night in the car outside of the town of Thiells prior to this session. So I arrived a little seedy and road-dusted but appropriately psyched about this session… The complex is known as the Letchworth Village and consists of numerous fenced and boarded up buildings. One can freely walk around the area but manage to enter a building and you risk being prosecuted for trespassing, as I was once already.
During the pre-shoot discussion, we narrowed the theme of this unique engagement session down to couture with avant-garde element, juxtaposing Dana’s love for high fashion with an edgy broken down backdrop, adding Zorz Studios’ taste of glamour, poetry and sensuality. Here are some of my favorite outtakes.
