Dancers are a special league, reflecting on style, posture, etiquette, and… weddings. See how this dancer treated her bride before and during their classy wedding.
Here’s a happy and edifying example of playing with Zorz Studios. Esther and Bernie entered the previous EngagEd 2016 contest taking a chance to win a free engagement session or even a wedding. The competition was tough with cool ideas flowing (here’s one realized example, a supernatural engagement session) and although they did not win, I don’t let the entrants down! They were offered a sweetener which helped their excitement and dreaming of being photographed by me live on and come to the fruition.
We started with their classy engagement session at the splendid Jane Hotel just a month prior to the wedding. I could not post these images as they wanted to surprise the guests with a fine photo guestbook and a tasteful canvas display (both seen in the wedding photos). As a prelude to their classy wedding, we chose a refined old-fashion feel done in a contemporary editorial style. As in many cases, I strove for the feel of images coming straight from a fashion magazine.
From what I’ve seen at the wedding reception, the images were well accepted. The wedding itself was a delightful continuation of the classy theme despite the really hot day of a reluctant to go summer. They chose Lyndhurst Manor for the first look and wedding portraiture against the venue’s castle-like architecture as the background. The ceremony and reception were held at the Rockleigh Country Club.
A noteworthy detail was adding a now-trending couple’s appeal to the guests to go unplugged, especially during the ceremony: to submerge and fully enjoy every surrounding detail instead of practicing their skills with their own DSLR or just fumbling with phone cameras’ focusing, shaking, Instagram filters, Snapchat fingering, let alone blocking or cluttering professional photographers’ views. Although I personally do not find it troublesome (except for rare “uncles” who jump in front or even push me to get a clear shot…) and incorporate this culture into my wedding coverage, this is quite a talk of the town among the wedding photographers nowadays.
Kudos to both bride and groom for not holding back their emotions. Tears of joy are a beautiful and telling thing.
The climax of the whole dancer’s take on the wedding reception was, of course, a choreographed show of the groomsmen with Bernie in the lead. Looooved it to the bits! Oh, and spotting the professional dancers on the floor, inflamed by the spectacular D & E Entertainment as a treat to this classy wedding. 🙂
P.S. Regular readers may sense a shorter story this time… Sorry to appear abrupt but this is a necessary measure to help me go quicker through the accumulated seasonal workload, national and international travels, and one very demanding change in personal life—bringing my new family to the country several months ago. I am not sure if I can blog every shoot nowadays but if I do, it will likely be a short story. Hope you will still enjoy it!
