One late summer day, a beautiful family of four took a teepee and smoke bombs to go out for a bohemian family photoshoot.
The shoot took place in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park prior to the sunset. We went with two looks: bohemian as the main theme and a “regular” with blue print textiles on the ladies as the secondary. They brought a teepee to compliment the bohemian feel and I learned while writing this blog that Google image search for “bohemian family photoshoot” does return teepees. I also loved the addition of their accessories and headpieces. It all worked for me and looked as a great alternative to another bohemian adventure, a warrior-themed breast-feeding baby photoshoot which was well received.

The second outfit served well for a joyful and playful time with the smoke grenades, another new thing I learned and want to explore for other shoots as an alternative to a cumbersome generator-powered smoke machine which I once used for my photography peer Vanessa Joy’s trash-the-dress photoshoot somewhere in the dark forests of New Jersey (left). Using smoke machines in the studio where power outlets are available is fun, easy, and done by me plenty of times but these smoke bombs are a worthy portable alternatives.
Children were very, very cooperative. Well, the girl is a child model and had earlier photoshoots under her belt. You could tell she’s experienced but kid is a kid and three supercharged hours without a break had a toll. Her little brother seemed to fare even better for an “inexperienced model” under one year. I quickly earned his attention and he kept smiling to all the sounds and faces I threw at him. And of course, the parents, a beautiful couple gently loving their little cubs made this bohemian family photoshoot a delightful success.
