One of my faithful clients, Tania, introduced me to her friend Lika. Lika is a ballet dancer and now teaches. She requested a full-day session so we approached it with great care and attention to details, especially of wardrobe and props. Since I wasn’t available till December, we had plenty of time after our initial meeting and discussion in August.
The session began in the Dance Specific studio in Manhattan, a place that blends dance and photo studio experience. I came fully-equipped with my Hensel 4-head lighting setup, backgrounds, fan, and other gear. Lika brought bags of clothes and props, too. It was regretful that Tania could not join us but Lika’s other friend brought her four-year old son who also participated in a shoot at some point.
At the end of the session, we drove to the Times Square for the final set of images on the cold, brightly-lit at the late evening hour, and crowded landmark. Instead of heavy studio equipment, I used an off-camera flash. It was fun to get the crowd stop, wait, and shoot with me… More samples to follow.

Absolutely one of the best
Great photo THANK YOU
Hi Ed,
your work is beautiful! I myself am a bodypainter, would love to collaborate with you sometimes. But today I am on a detective mission! I am excited to see the use of these gorgeous black wings in your photos. They were custom made for one of my husband’s projects by a dear friend of mine, sculptor/costume maker/body painter Elisabeth Belomlinsky, who had made them by hand in one night, much like someone from a Russian fairy tale. The wings were kept at Pulse studio–an ill-advised decision, as they got lost under some ugly circumstances beyond our control. I know that the artist who made them would really appreciate to be able to have access to images of this lost treasure. Perhaps you have more than are shown here? We would love to see even the outtakes from that shoot. Please let me know if that is a possibility. Заранее Вам спасибо, ждем с нетерпением Вашего ответа. Анна Муслимова.
