When some of the wedding industry leaders request a commercial photo shoot, an impression of a bridal couture is inevitable.
I received the honor of shooting the bridal beauty set, masterfully crafted by U-Mode Salon, one of whose specialties are bridal makeup and hair. I first worked with the salon’s owner and her wonderful staff on the wicked DaNu Radio’s annual project Russian Calendar Girls (at least I attempted to make it wicked that year…), helping me win the Grand Prize in PDN/Rangefinder Magazine’s Seeing the Light contest. More creative projects followed, including a bold affair last month, Valentines’ Day Boudoir Marathon. Their flexibility, skills, passion, and friendliness never stop to amaze me.
The other major participant in this bridal couture project is the well-regarded Bridal Styles Boutique, which helped countless brides in the tri-state area and beyond with their hand-made accessories. Many of Zorz Studios brides fancied one of their headpieces, veils, or jewelry, the most recent one making a splash with a poetic trash-the-dress session with a horse at the Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard.
Due to the number of models and looks, this commercial shoot was split into two days, first one taking advantage of the gowns provided by CT Bridal Couture at the shop itself, and the second bearing more of a conceptual feel and focusing on the bridal beauty and headpieces. In all, 12 models, 22 hours, of which 15 of shooting and mixing conventional and less common approaches to a bridal couture impression. As usual, both of the clients let me take the lead so I veered away on occasion, apparently, still trying to please the viewer artistically. A blissful experience all over!
