From yesterday’s prominent family to another, this time from a ZORPHOTOUR Nigerian family photoshoot to create an “epic portrait that displays royalty”.
When this family saw the announcement of the past summer’s ZORPHOTOUR—the 11,000-mile road trip through 31 US states to photograph friends and clients—they went straight to the bottom of it, writing: “We would love to shoot an epic family portrait with you! …I want an EPIC family portrait that displays royalty.” This Nigerian family, despite living in Washington, DC, is my regular. It started with their engagement session, then another one, and then a wedding in DC.
Below is this Nigerian family photoshoot extract from my PolarSteps trip journal, the full version of this 30-day adventurous RV tour is available here.
Ugochi and Nnamdi now have two children and the same drive for style and impact. My previous photos got them published in a few big Nigerian lifestyle blogs like Bella Naija so I wasn’t surprised to see the evolution of the prestige onto the family circle. The outfits were dapper and fashionable on all four, and they had a team to of three to help them. I used two flashes to compliment and balance the bright sunlight.
The location was fittingly regal, National Arboretum in Washington, DC. We started at the National Capitol Columns. These 22 Corinthian columns were part of the Capitol 1828-1958 but removed due to an inadequate support to the dome. The heat wave was still chasing us so we soon moved into the shady areas of the Bonsai and Penjing Museum. The kids were remarkably cooperating despite the high temperature and dense clothes. The younger one, a 2-month-old, was simply a precious gem, quiet and beautiful.
I hope you’ll enjoy this Nigerian family photoshoot. Unlike with all of my usual blogs, these photos are not my selections but a few of clients’ favorites to get everything out sooner. My plan is to prepare a director’s cut later—a special compilation blog with some of the best tour stories, moments, and my own favorite photos, perhaps with some powerful imagery of unrealized potential by the clients. 🙂
