If you missed the beginning of this story last week, I had a cool family photoshoot with some pretty untraditional outtakes, if compared to typical Christmas-card style family photography. Check out the mayhem we created!
As mentioned in the previous blog story, we weren’t done that day and took the bursting energy out to the field, the soccer field. Soccer is in their family. All three lads and the dad play it—quite competitively—so an appropriate theme was in place. We just enlisted mom as the referee to complete the picture. 🙂
This was possibly the most action-packed family photoshoot to date. The guys had a blast and deserved some cool portraits. The lighting was ideal with the setting sun behind their backs to beautifully balance my off-camera flashes. Similar to giving a feel a TV show poster in Part 1, I was going for an ESPN-like sports pages with my lighting, composition, and post-production. Many families have members involved in sports so I encourage you to incorporate the idea into your family photoshoot. Instead of holding a ball here and there, though, find a photographer who can stir things up a bit and bring the results to a higher level that screams billboard or big-screen TV!
