After not shooting weddings for almost five months, I couldn’t imagine a cooler way of breaking the void than shooting a steampunk wedding!
Since I don’t produce weddings in bulk, a seasonal slowdown prolonged the break, making me ache for something spectacular. Meet Annie and Christopher, one of the kindest and coolest couples of Zorz Studios. For starters, during our client dinner they invited me with my daughter to their Halloween party… You know how there are decorated houses that get all the talk of the town? That would be one of them. See some party photos at the end.
Second, Annie was one of the brides who made me part of her bridal shopping. Another visit to Kleinfeld Bridal! Coincidentally, I viewed lots of wedding dresses these days, but that would be another story.
Looking forward to seeing how their wedding was going to unfold, I was up for a pleasant surprise, from their wardrobes to the location, Drew University, where the family left its mark and some untold stories. It was wet-snowing all day but thankfully, the interiors offered a magnificent opportunity for photography. We also jumped into the rain for a few night shots with the insanely looking reception hall in the background.
This steampunk wedding made quite an impression as can be seen in the photos but one of the imperceptible details that touched my heart was the divine classical music during the cocktail hour. What a class; for me, one of the best pre-dinner functions.
Rumor has it that I am not done working with them yet… Let’s see what April throws on us.
UPDATE 01/25/16: This fascinating venue has been featured, along with a photo of mine from the wedding, on New Jersey’s Top 25 Wedding Venues list.
