About
.
Ed was born and raised in Russia where the study of classical art and literature affected his development as an artist. For many years, he expressed his creative vision in drawings and paintings. Eventually, he discovered the potential of photography to allow him to retain the level of artistic expression he found in drawing, while transcending ordinary imagery and finding tremendous flexibility, control, and nearly instant gratification. Applying his feel for lighting, posing, and composition quickly brought him to photographic fine art portraiture.
In the natural course of things, his models soon started asking to shoot their weddings. After a formal education on the subject of wedding photography – working with several established professionals, attending workshops and seminars, and studying a plethora of trade literature – he embraced the charm and majesty of wedding photography.
Being a fine art portraiture photographer, specializing in posing and finding the best in each person, allows him to create beautiful portraits throughout the wedding day. His keen eye for details, surroundings, and human emotions, allows him to capture powerful journalistic (candid) style images. He doesn’t advocate either the traditional or the journalistic approach exclusively. Sticking to just one would place limitations on what he’s able to deliver to his clients. So instead, he blends the two approaches to give clients the very best of what photography has to offer.
Professional titles don’t necessarily add quality or appeal to one’s work, but Ed is proud to be active in professional community and happy to say that Ihe’s a member of Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Professional Photographers’ Society of New York State (PPSNYS), Professional Photographers of Greater New York (PPGNY), and Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI).
